Basima graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of science degree in Economics and Population Studies from University of Jordan. Basima always had a passion for Artistic, Cultural, and educational initiatives, she has expressed her passion by her involvement in a number of projects over the years amongst which are: 

Board Member Mabarrat Um Al Hussein since 2009.

Board Member JEWELS, Jordan Education for Women Empowerment and Learning Society, since 2012.

Board Member PNT, Petra National trust, since 2016.

Founder of MOUNTI a not for profit initiative to support women in the villages to produce food products for the pantry in 2005.

President Arab Alliance for Women in Music 2011-2017.

Founder of Mansu Embroidery a not for profit initiative in 2008 to support women who embroider and cross-stitch at home.

Bassima is a strong believer in the importance of education and women empowerment, while maintaining the importance of knowing our culture and heritage, and preserving it for future generations.

She is married to Habib Ghawi, and has two children, Hana and Adib.
